The Benchmade 185SBK SOCP Fixed Blade is the big member of the SOCP family, a full size dagger designed with combatives instructor Greg Thompson from feedback within the Special Operations Combatives Program community. It takes the finger-ring retention concept of the original SOCP dagger and builds it into an 11.74 inch fixed blade for infantry, special operations, and law enforcement users who need more reach and a knife that will not fail under hard use. It is part of Benchmade's Black Class and made in the USA.
The 7.11 inch double edge dagger blade is ground from CPM 3V at 57 to 59 HRC on .15 inch stock, with a partially serrated edge and a Cobalt Black Cerakote finish. CPM 3V is a powder metallurgy tool steel known for toughness, built to take impacts and lateral stress that would chip or snap more brittle steels, which is why it suits a thin, lightweight combat blade. The serrations bite through webbing, rope, and fabric, and the coating cuts glare and adds corrosion protection over a steel that is not fully stainless. Our comparison of every major knife steel explains where 3V fits.
Black peel-ply G10 scales give a secure grip wet or gloved on a slim, 0.43 inch thick handle, and the integrated finger ring keeps the knife indexed in your hand even when you open your grip to work a weapon or radio. The whole knife weighs just 5.78 ounces.
An injection molded sheath holds the blade securely during movement and mounts to a belt, plate carrier, or other kit. For practice, the matching 185T trainer mirrors this knife with a dull blade.
