Benchmade 916SBK Triage Blunt Tip Rescue Knife

The Benchmade 916SBK Triage is three rescue tools in one folding frame: a partially serrated blunt tip blade, a hook shaped safety cutter, and a carbide glass breaker. Built for EMTs, firefighters, police, and raft guides, it cuts seatbelts, clothing, and straps close to a person without a sharp point anywhere near skin. The Triage family took Knife of the Year from the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence in 2011, and this blunt tip version is the one many responders reach for on scene. It is designed and made in Oregon City with Austrian blade steel.

Blade

The 3.40 inch opposing bevel blade is ground from Böhler N680 at 57 to 59 HRC, with a black coating and a partially serrated edge. N680 is a nitrogen-alloyed stainless built for wet and salty environments. It holds up to blood, rain, and river water far better than most knife steels, which is exactly what a rescue blade needs. The serrations bite through webbing and belt material, and the plain section handles clean cuts. Lock

Ambidextrous thumb studs open the blade, and the AXIS Lock holds it. To close, pull the spring-loaded bar back with either thumb and the blade swings free, which is easy to do in gloves or with wet hands.

Handle

Textured black G10 over full stainless steel liners grips when soaking wet, and the carbide glass breaker at the butt clears a side window in an emergency.

Carry
