Benchmade 9170SBK Auto Triage Rescue Knife

The Benchmade 9170SBK Auto Triage takes Benchmade's first responder triple tool automatic. A partially serrated N680 blade, a 440C safety hook, and a carbide glass breaker share one aluminum and G10 frame, and both the blade and the hook open automatically. When you have one free hand on a crash scene or during patient care, that speed is the point. Part of Benchmade's Black Class duty line, it is designed and made in Oregon City with Austrian blade steel.

Blade

The 3.58 inch blade is Böhler N680 at 57 to 59 HRC, black coated, with a partially serrated edge on .124 inch stock. N680 is a nitrogen stainless made for saltwater and hard wet use, and it resists rust from blood, rain, and sweat better than most knife steels. The serrations saw through seatbelts, webbing, and cordage, and the plain section makes clean cuts. The 440C hook deploys from the handle on its own and cuts away from the body, so straps and clothing come off without a point near skin. Lock

The AXIS automatic fires the blade open when you pull back on the AXIS bar. The same bar releases it to close with either hand, even in gloves, and an integrated slide safety on the spine keeps it from opening in a pocket or pouch. See more one-hand autos in our side opening automatic knives.

Handle

The high strength black aluminum frame with textured G10 holds up to duty wear, and the carbide glass breaker at the butt clears a side window.

Carry
