The Benchmade Shootout is a double-action OTF built around CPM-CruWear tool steel and CF-Elite handle construction. At 2.8 ounces, it's one of the lightest OTF knives in Benchmade's lineup—significantly lighter than the Infidel it sits alongside in the catalog.
The 3.51-inch tanto blade is heat-treated to 63–65 HRC. CPM-CruWear is a semi-stainless tool steel with high wear resistance and toughness, which makes it a practical choice for a hard-use blade profile like the tanto. The Flat Earth PVD coating adds a layer of corrosion protection to offset CruWear's lower chromium content compared to fully stainless options. The tanto grind provides a reinforced tip and a flat cutting edge suited for push cuts, piercing, and general utility work.
The CF-Elite handle is Benchmade's carbon fiber–reinforced polymer. It keeps weight down without sacrificing structural rigidity, and at 0.51 inches thick, the handle maintains a slim pocket profile. A hardened carbide glass breaker is integrated into the butt end. The reversible deep-carry pocket clip accommodates both left and right-hand carry in a tip-down configuration.
All Shootout models are manufactured in Oregon City, Oregon. Benchmade's lifetime warranty and LifeSharp service—free sharpening, cleaning, and adjustments—apply to every knife in this lineup.
