Benchmade Shootout
The Benchmade Shootout is a double action OTF knife built from molded polymer instead of the machined aluminum most OTFs use. That makes it the lightest OTF Benchmade has produced, at about 2.8 ounces, and far easier to carry than the aluminum Infidel. Designed in Benchmade's Black Class with law enforcement and tactical users in mind, it works as a weak-hand backup that deploys with a simple push of the thumb under stress. Every Shootout is made in Oregon City.
Shootout 5370 Tanto vs 5371 Drop Point
The 5370 carries a 3.51 inch tanto that widens at the point for a tip that resists breaking under lateral stress and piercing. The 5371 runs a 3.49 inch drop point, the all purpose shape for everyday cutting. Both fire and retract on the same double action mechanism: push the slide forward to deploy, pull it back to close.
Shootout Blade Steels and Finishes
Current Shootouts run CPM S30V, a proven stainless that is easy to maintain, in Flat Earth, black DLC, DLC Battlewash, and stonewash finishes. The Taiga Green 5371FE-2601 steps up to Z-Wear, a tough, high wear tool steel under an FDE coating. The original Shootouts ran CruWear, and our comparison of every major knife steel covers all three.
CF-Elite and Grivory Handles
CF-Elite is a carbon fiber reinforced nylon, molded with a detailed grip texture that could never be milled into aluminum and stiff enough for reliable deployment. Grivory builds come in Ranger Green, Crater Blue, Cool Gray, black, dark grey, and Taiga Green. A hardened carbide glass breaker sits in the butt for emergency window breaks, and a reversible deep carry clip rides tip down on either side.
