The Bradford Guardian 5.5 is Bradford Knives' bushcraft answer to the Guardian 5. It keeps the large fixed blade footprint but reworks it for woods use with a thinner blade, a better grip, and added protection at the edge.
Bradford dropped the blade stock from the Guardian 5's .200 inch down to .17 inch on the 5.5. That makes a lighter, better-balanced knife that carves and slices with real responsiveness, while CPM 3V keeps the thinner edge tough enough to baton and process wood without chipping.
The biggest upgrade is in the hand. The 3D scales add subtle palm swells and a hooked butt for a secure all-day hold, and a guard at the choil keeps your hand off the edge during hard thrusts and push cuts. This is the change owners of the original 5 asked for.
Pick a saber grind for more strength behind the edge on heavy chores, or a full height flat grind for a thinner, keener slicer suited to fine bushcraft and game work.
