Quercur Leathercraft is a Spanish leather workshop established in 2014 by artisan José Ramon Melchor in Lugo, Galicia. The brand specializes in handmade knife sheaths and leather goods crafted from Spanish vegetable tanned leather using traditional saddlery techniques. Quercur holds the Galician artisan seal and ships worldwide, combining classic Spanish craftsmanship with designs influenced by North American leather work.
Our Quercur selection centers on the working formats: dangler sheaths in black or brown with contrast red or white stitching that let a fixed blade swing naturally on the belt, hand-tooled pouch sheaths in the Western tradition, and a crossdraw back sheath for horizontal carry behind the hip. Each is cut from 2.5mm vegetable tanned full grain cowhide sourced from Spanish tanners, a firm, durable leather that will not react with blade steel or promote corrosion, wet molded and hand stitched with brass hardware. They fit the bushcraft and hunting knives they were designed around and only get better as the patina builds.
Quercur's horizontal carry sheaths ride high and discreet on belts up to 40mm, clearing the hip without digging in when you sit, sized for folders up to 130mm long including the Buck 110, Spyderco Endura and Delica, Ontario RAT 1, and Böker Caracal. The wider catalog runs fitted sheaths for Benchmade fixed blades and Victorinox Swiss Army knives in 91mm and 111mm sizes, each wet molded around the exact blade profile and handle contours of the model it serves.
Every Quercur piece is saddle stitched by hand, the two-needle method that holds even if a single thread wears through, in natural tan, dark brown, and black finishes that accept tooling, stamping, and embossing. The Lugo workshop also produces belts, wallets, strops, and saddlebags in the same Galician artisan tradition. Vegetable tanned leather is a living material: feed it occasionally, a job our knife leather care collection and a tin of Obenauf's handle perfectly, and a Quercur sheath will outlast several of the knives it carries.
