Candler Customs is the house knife brand of Pops Knife Supply, the Georgia shop better known for selling steel, belts, and handle material to half the makers in the Southeast. These knives come from father and son Joey and Luke Berry, with every step done in house and every knife 100% handmade. When your day job is supplying professional knifemakers, you don't get to cut corners on your own blades, and it shows in the grinds, the taper work, and the handle fit.
The Layman is the workhorse of the line, a 3" drop point fixed blade sized for pocket or belt, with the GL versions stepping up to a tapered tang and ProCut, the stainless steel developed by MagnaCut metallurgist Larrin Thomas and sold through Pops. The LC Model covers similar ground in tough 8670 carbon steel with handles like red curly maple and crosscut paper Micarta, while the Canuk runs a 2.75" leaf-shaped blade with G-10 scales and thong tubes for lanyard carry.
The Sharpfinger revives the classic Schrade 152 trailing point pattern that skinned a generation's worth of deer, rebuilt by hand in AEB-L with bocote or mocha paper Micarta and a fine, acute tip for detail work. Every knife ships with a leather sheath, and handle combinations rotate constantly since each batch is made by two people rather than a factory. They sit comfortably next to the work of W.A. Surls, whose handmade knives share the same Pops family tree.
