on Orders Over $99The Silo from Darlington Edgecraft is a compact fixed blade designed for everyday carry and utility tasks. At just 5.5" overall, it's sized for pocket carry while still offering a full tang and substantial 2.5" blade. The hand-forged finish gives each knife a unique look, while the burlap handle provides a comfortable, textured grip.
Blade
The 2.5" blade uses A2 tool steel at 0.094" thick. A2 is an American air-hardening steel known for its toughness and durability. It's possibly the toughest production knife steel available, bending before it chips or breaks. This makes it excellent for batoning and prying tasks, though it will patina and requires maintenance to prevent rust. The convex blade grind offers excellent edge geometry for slicing.
Handle
The handle combines blue jean burlap with white G-10 and natural micarta liners. Burlap provides a textured, comfortable grip that improves with use. G-10 is a fiberglass laminate that won't absorb water or degrade, while micarta offers similar durability with a warmer feel. The white G-10 pin adds a contrasting accent. At just 2.01oz, the Silo is extremely lightweight for a fixed blade.
Carry
Ships with a leather sheath that complements the knife's rustic aesthetic. EEP (Extreme Environmental Protection) is a high-grade, deep-penetrating waterproofing treatment for leather. Unlike surface coatings, it saturates the leather fibers to resist water, mold, mildew, and high temperatures, often resulting in a darker, softer, and more durable, oil-treated finish. No lock mechanism - this is a fixed blade with a full tang, so the blade and handle are one continuous piece of steel. The sheath holds the knife securely with positive retention.
