Freeman Outdoor Gear is Jeff Freeman's own shop in Brownsville, Oregon, and the resume behind it explains the knives: five seasons as a wildland firefighter, US Army aviation machinist, and over a decade as lead knife designer at one of America's biggest knife companies, where his designs included the LMF II ASEK. The Model 451 family is named for his fire crew's radio call sign, and every knife is machined in-house from American materials with a lifetime warranty and lifetime free sharpening.
The 5" Model 451 is the hard-use field fixed blade the line was built on: full tang MagnaCut run hard at 61-62 HRc, machined G-10 or burlap Micarta scales, an exposed pommel for hammering, and your choice of leather sheath versions or stonewashed blades with satin flats. The 451 Button Lock Flipper carries the same DNA into the pocket, an aluminum-framed folder with carbon fiber or G-10 inlays that deploys on bearings from either the flipper or the thumb grooves and locks with a push-button. Small-shop production means colorways move fast and restocks aren't guaranteed.
