The Hogue Expel is a replaceable-blade scalpel folder built for hunters who need a dedicated field-dressing and skinning tool. Unlike disposable surgical blades, the CP60 blade is made from durable steel that holds up to repeated use and can be touched up in the field rather than thrown away after one task.
Blade
The 2.9" blade uses 420 stainless steel, a corrosion-resistant steel that stands up well to the wet, messy conditions of field dressing game. Its teardrop profile features rolled spine geometry that supports the tip and prevents it from snapping or bending during detail work. The CP60 design is field-sharpenable with a ceramic sharpener, extending its life well beyond a standard disposable scalpel blade.
Handle
The handle is built from orange G-10, a fiberglass laminate prized for its strength and grip even when wet or bloody. The orange color also makes the knife easy to spot if set down in the field. Multiple grip zones are built into the handle, including pull point, push point, and pinch point areas, along with spine jimping for added control during precise cuts. At 2.4oz, it carries light and stays out of the way until needed.
Carry
The Expel uses a spine lock, a traditional lock-back mechanism that locks the blade open via a pivoting latch along the spine of the handle, released by pressing down near the rear. The pocket clip is set up for right-hand, tip-up carry only.
