Designed by Jim Bruhns, the Hogue Saxum pairs refined styling with a smooth-running mechanical action. A thrust bearing system keeps deployment fluid, while Hogue's precise manufacturing tolerances give the button lock a solid, confident feel. It's built for collectors and everyday carriers who want a compact folder that performs as well as it looks.
Blade
The 2.8" drop point blade is made from MagnaCut steel with a tumbled finish. MagnaCut is a modern powder steel engineered specifically for knives, offering excellent edge retention, strong corrosion resistance, and good toughness - a well-rounded performer that holds up to daily use. The drop point shape provides a strong tip and ample belly for general-purpose cutting.
Handle
The handle combines matte black aluminum with a G-Mascus G-10 inlay. Aluminum keeps the overall weight down while adding rigidity, and the G-10 inlay - a fiberglass laminate with a layered damascus-style pattern - adds visual depth and texture. Total weight is just 2.61oz, making it easy to carry all day.
Carry
The Saxum uses a button lock, which engages a spring-loaded stud into the tang to hold the blade open; pressing the button releases it for closing. This is a manual knife, opened by hand rather than firing open automatically. The pocket clip is set up for right-hand, tip-up carry.
