The Hogue Saxum, designed by Jim Bruhns of Bruhns Design, pairs modern materials with a refined mechanical feel. A thrust bearing system drives the action, giving the blade smooth, controlled deployment every time it opens. This is a knife for collectors and everyday carry users who want precision engineering in a compact package.
Blade
The 2.8" drop point blade is made from MagnaCut steel with a black Cerakote finish. MagnaCut is a modern powder-metallurgy steel built specifically for knives, offering excellent edge retention, strong corrosion resistance, and good toughness compared to older stainless steels. The drop point shape is versatile, with a strong tip and broad belly suited to everyday cutting tasks.
Handle
The handle is matte black aluminum with a Kingwood inlay. Aluminum keeps the knife lightweight and durable, while the Kingwood inlay adds a natural wood accent with distinct grain character. At just 2.5oz, the Saxum carries light for its size.
Carry
The Saxum uses a button lock, which engages the blade open with a spring-loaded mechanism and releases with a simple push of the button for fast, one-handed closing. It is a manual knife - the blade must be opened by hand, not deployed automatically. The pocket clip is set up for right-hand, tip-up carry only.
