Kunwu Stiffy
The Stiffy is Kunwu unplugged from the pivot: the brand's whole steel obsession applied to fixed blades. Kunwu Knives brings the same finishing standard here as on its titanium folders, and the three-knife lineup ladders neatly from pocketable utility to camp workhorse inside the Kunwu family.
Stiffy P, Stiffy D and Stiffy G
The letters run small, medium, large. The Stiffy P is the compact: a 3 inch spear point at 6.69 inches overall and 3.66 ounces, in canvas micarta or purple G-10, sized to ride a belt or pack strap unnoticed. The Stiffy D steps up to 3.54 inches of blade on an 8 inch footprint in black or brown micarta, the do-everything middle child. The Stiffy G, its letter a nod to the Gringo folder, stretches a harpoon blade to 6.1 inches over 5mm stock for real chopping and batoning duty. All three ship with a Kydex sheath and nylon belt clip.
What Steel Do Kunwu Stiffy Knives Use
Uddeholm tool steels at hardness levels most production fixed blades never attempt. The P runs Vanadis 8 and the D runs Vanadis 4, both at 63 to 65 HRC, cold-work powder steels that hold an edge far past anything stainless in this price range. The G's Assab 88 shares its composition with Sleipner and trades a little of that wear resistance for field toughness.
