Controlled-Angle Sharpening System with Guide Rods
Lansky Sharpeners manufactures guided knife sharpening systems invented by Arthur Lansky Levine over 40 years ago. The Controlled-Angle System uses guide rods inserted into pre-drilled angle holes at 17°, 20°, 25°, and 30° to maintain consistent bevel angles during sharpening. A multi-angle knife clamp holds blades steady. Honing stones attach to guide rods for controlled passes along the edge. The Standard 3 Stone System includes 120 grit coarse, 280 grit medium, and 600 grit fine ceramic hones with honing oil and storage case.
Diamond Hone Sharpening Systems
The Deluxe 4 Stone Diamond System features 100 grit extra coarse, 200 grit coarse, 400 grit medium, and 600 grit fine diamond-coated hones. Diamond abrasives remove steel faster than ceramic or Arkansas stones, making them suitable for resetting bevels on CPM-S30V, D2, and M390 blade steels. Diamond hones should not contact honing oil because it clogs the diamond coating. The 3 Stone Standard Diamond system provides coarse, medium, and fine grits for users needing aggressive stock removal on wear-resistant powder metallurgy steels.
Natural Arkansas Stone Systems
Arkansas stone sharpening systems use Novaculite mined from the Ouachita Mountains. The natural stone composition creates polished edges with fine abrasive particles. Arkansas systems include soft, hard, and black Arkansas stones in different grit ranges. Honing oil must be used during sharpening and cleaning to prevent Arkansas stones from cracking from thermal stress. The natural stone systems produce refined edge finishes compared to synthetic alumina oxide hones.
Turn Box and Benchstone Sharpeners
The Diamond/Ceramic 4-Rod Turn Box uses vertical ceramic and diamond rods at fixed angles for freehand sharpening without clamps. Users draw blade edges downward across rods in alternating strokes. Diamond benchstones in extra fine, fine, and medium grits provide flat sharpening surfaces for kitchen knives and larger blades that exceed the clamp capacity of the Controlled-Angle System. Double Folding Diamond Paddles offer fine/coarse and medium/fine combinations for field sharpening.
Universal Mount and Super C Clamp Accessories
The Universal Mount stabilizes Controlled-Angle Systems on flat surfaces to prevent movement during sharpening. The Super C Clamp attaches systems to workbench edges for hands-free operation. Individual replacement hones include coarse diamond, medium diamond, fine diamond, hard Arkansas, soft Arkansas, and fine serrated stones for serrated blade maintenance. The Dual Grit Puck Sharpener provides portable 120/280 grit sharpening for quick touch-ups without guide rod setup.
