The Leatherman Wave Alpha in Cascadia takes the full size Wave platform that has led Leatherman's lineup since 1998 and upgrades it with a CPM MagnaCut blade, machined G10 handles, and oversized scissors. Blade

Where the classic Wave runs 420HC, the Alpha cuts with a 2.89 inch reverse tanto in CPM MagnaCut, a powder steel that pairs long edge life with the rust resistance of a true stainless. It keeps cutting through cardboard, cord, and zip ties long after a 420HC blade needs touching up, and Leatherman sharpens its MagnaCut tools for free. Tools

Eighteen tools cover the jobs a Wave owner actually reaches for: needlenose and regular pliers, replaceable wire and hard wire cutters, a crimper and wire stripper, a saw, an awl, three files, a pry tool, can and bottle openers, and two bit drivers. The full size spring action scissors are the largest on any pliers based Leatherman, and a double ended bit kit ships with the tool.

Handle

The Wave Alpha measures 4.04 inches closed and weighs 8.26 ounces, so it belongs on a belt. No sheath is included, and our Leatherman sheaths fit it in nylon, leather, and Molle.
