MagnaCut, S35VN, and CPM-3V Blade Steels
Les George knives use high-performance stainless and tool steels in both custom and production models. MagnaCut steel appears in recent designs like the Myna and select Talos configurations, offering corrosion resistance and edge retention at 62-63 HRC. The VECP and ESV mid-tech folders use CPM S45VN and CTS-XHP stainless steels with stonewashed finishes. The VECP (Value Engineering Change Proposal) streamlines the Rockeye custom design into a mid-tech folder with 3.25-inch drop point blades and phosphor bronze washer systems. The ESV shortens the VECP while keeping the same width for a compact framelock flipper. The Talos features spearpoint blade geometry with upper swedge grinds and radial handle contours. The Defiant 7 Hyrax collaboration uses Grade 5 titanium frames with ball-bearing pivots and flat-ground MagnaCut blades for flipper deployment.
Spartan Blades V-14 Dagger and Fixed Blade Designs
The Spartan-George V-14 dagger earned the BLADE 2014 Collaboration Knife of the Year award with its 6.75-inch hollow-ground blade and four symmetrical bevels. Full-tang construction uses 0.25-inch thick MagnaCut or S45VN steel with vacuum heat treatment and double cryogenic processing. The Galvo fixed blade has 4-inch double-edge dagger geometry with fuller-milled blade profiles and aluminum handles. Custom fixed blades include the MK1 Trench Knife with cast brass handles and CPM-3V blades, and Rockeye models with 52100 high-carbon steel and 3D-machined G-10 scales.
