Light My Fire has manufactured fire-starting tools, titanium utensils, and outdoor gear in Sweden since 1995. The company developed the Swedish FireSteel with the Swedish Department of Defense, creating a ferrocerium rod fire starter that generates 3,000°C sparks in any weather. Current products include the FireSteel Army and Scout models, Grade 2 titanium Sporks, and the Swedish FireKnife with integrated fire-starting capability.
Ferrocerium Alloy FireSteel Construction
The Swedish FireSteel rod uses a pyrophoric alloy of iron, magnesium, lanthanum, and cerium, hardened through a proprietary process for consistent spark generation. The Army model provides 12,000 strikes and the Scout model offers 3,000, both producing sparks at 3,000°C (5,400°F). Each FireSteel includes a stainless steel striker with precision edge grinding for maximum spark output and an integrated emergency whistle. BIO models feature handles made from coconut shell fiber bio-based plastic with 96% bio-based content.
12C27 Sandvik Stainless Steel Blades
The Swedish FireKnife combines a fixed blade knife with an integrated FireSteel fire starter in the handle. The 3.5-inch blade uses 12C27 Sandvik stainless steel with 90% recycled content and Scandi grind geometry for wood carving and food preparation. The half-tang construction provides blade stability while keeping the knife lightweight. The knife spine is precision ground to create focused sparks when scraped against the FireSteel rod in the Cocoshell handle.
Grade 2 Titanium and Recycled Stainless Steel Utensils
Light My Fire's Spork Titanium is made from 100% Grade 2 titanium, weighs 19 grams, and is non-corrosive, non-magnetic, and free of metallic taste. The Swedish Spork stainless steel version uses 96% recycled 18/8 stainless steel and weighs 33 grams. Both models combine spoon, fork, and knife functions in a single 170mm, dishwasher-safe utensil. The Spork Kit Titanium includes a recycled merino wool carry case made from Woolpower garment production waste.
Bio-Based Plastic Materials and Cocoshell Composites
Light My Fire products use bio-based plastics that combine coconut shell fibers with polypropylene for handles and accessories. The Cocoshell material offers natural texture and appearance while maintaining outdoor durability. FireSteel BIO models feature 96% bio-based plastic handles in colors like Rusty Orange, Slate Black, and Cocoshell brown. The material resists temperature extremes and provides ergonomic grips with integrated lanyard attachment points.
