The LionSteel SR22 is the compact successor to the SR-11 — itself a 2017 Blade Show Overall Knife of the Year — and it carries the same SOLID integral construction philosophy into a more pocket-friendly package. Where the SR-11 is a full-size workhorse, the SR22 trims the overall length to 7.09 inches with an 80mm blade, making it one of the more carry-friendly knives in LionSteel's lineup without giving up the build quality that defines the SR family.
The handle is the foundation. Milled from a single block of either Ergal aluminum or 6Al4V titanium using 4D machining, it carries none of the flex or play that comes with traditional two-piece handle construction. The result is a knife that feels unusually solid in the hand — a quality that carries over directly to lockup and long-term durability. The lockbar is reinforced with a stainless steel insert to prevent wear, and the Rotoblock system serves double duty as an overtravel stop and secondary lock, keeping the frame engaged under hard use. The IKBS ball-bearing pivot keeps the action smooth from day one.
Unlike the T.R.E. and ROK, the SR-22's flipper tab is integral to the blade rather than removable — a simpler, more streamlined approach that keeps the knife compact and the profile clean. The deep carry bayonet-style clip is reversible for ambidextrous tip-up carry, and the clip mounting screw is fitted with a tungsten carbide glass breaker.
Blade Steel
The SR22 runs Sleipner, a Böhler-Uddeholm semi-stainless tool steel with a character closer to D2 than to powder metallurgy steels like M390. The tradeoff is deliberate — Sleipner prioritizes toughness and ease of sharpening over maximum edge retention, making it a strong choice for buyers who use their knives hard and resharpen in the field. The blade geometry is a convex ground drop point, a profile unique to LionSteel's SR family that delivers strong slicing performance despite the robust spine thickness.
Aluminum variants are available in orange, red, and black. Titanium variants come in grey and bronze and include a black leather sheath.
