on Orders Over $99The Medford Primus is the knife Greg Medford has been building toward for fifteen years, the new flagship from Medford Knife & Tool and the design Medford calls the pillar his company moves from in 2026 and onward. He says every knife he makes is a snapshot of where his spirit was in that moment. This is the one he made the week he took back sole ownership of his company and the creative floodgates opened, and you can feel it in the machining. Nobody else will make a production knife like this, because nothing about it is efficient. That is the point.
Blade: The Primus runs a 3.85" blade of CPM 3V at a monstrous .260" thick, tumbled to a working finish. 3V is a tool steel chosen for one trait above all, toughness, the ability to take impacts and prying abuse that would chip or crack conventional stainless, while still holding a serious working edge. On stock this thick, it makes the Primus effectively unbreakable by anything a human hand can do to it.
Lock & Handle: Full 6AL-4V titanium handles carry a stout Medford frame lock, cut into the three-facet geometry that defines the knife. Turn it in the light and the facets of the blade reflect in the facets of the frame, the visual Easter eggs Medford machined into every surface. A sculpted titanium backstrap finishes the spine, and subtle badging replaces billboard branding.
Carry: An all-new titanium clip echoes the handle's facets and carries Greg Medford's signature as a quiet clip marking, set up right hand, tip up. The breaker at the butt balances the knife in hand, adds a lanyard hole, and gives you a striking point. At 9.52 ounces, it carries with the unmistakable Medford heft.
Like every Medford, the Primus is built entirely under one roof in Phoenix, Arizona, from raw 3V and titanium through machining, heat treat, grinding, finish, and assembly. Read the full story of the man behind it in our profile, Overbuilt Knives, The World of Medford Knife & Tool. Made in the USA.
