Hinderer Maximus
The Hinderer Maximus is Rick Hinderer's folding dagger, the result of several years and a few earlier renditions spent dialing in a double edged folder. It is a true symmetrical design, with a titanium frame that fully encloses the blade, and it stands apart from every other shape among Rick Hinderer knives.
Hinderer Maximus Double Edge Dagger Blade
The Maximus runs a 3.5 inch CPM 20CV dagger blade on 0.165 inch stock, sharpened on both sides with about 3.125 inches of edge per side meeting at a fine piercing point. CPM 20CV is a high wear stainless that holds an edge a long time and resists corrosion, and our comparison of every major knife steel shows where it lands. With both edges live, close it by the flipper tab rather than the spine.
Symmetrical Titanium Frame and Dual Flippers
Both sides of the frame are machined the same way, so the grip feels identical in either hand. Recessed G-10 or carbon fiber overlays sit on both faces of the titanium for layered contrast and traction, and dual flipper tabs double as the guard. Where the XM-18 3.5 is angular and asymmetric, the Maximus is balanced on center, a titanium frame lock with an open frame that is easy to clean.
Hinderer Maximus Specs and Carry
The Maximus measures 8.125 inches open and about 4.625 inches closed at roughly 4 ounces, light for a 3.5 inch blade. Its pocket clip mounts at the butt and moves side to side, but because of the handle design it carries tip up only, one of the few Hinderer folders set up that way. It is made in the USA like every Hinderer.

The Maximus uses its own clip and filler tab, so standard Hinderer clips will not fit.
