5160 Fixed Blade with Micarta Handles

The Shade Indonesia Ronin is a katana-inspired fixed blade built for heavy cutting and hard use. With a 30 inch overall length, this is a large-format blade suited to experienced users who want a full-tang chopper with sword-like reach.

Blade

The 17 inch blade is hand forged from 5160 steel at 0.250" thick, finished in Darkwash Brute de Forge, which leaves the hammer-forged texture visible under a satin polish. 5160 is a spring steel known for toughness and shock resistance, making it a common choice for large blades that see repeated impact such as batoning and chopping.

Handle

The handle is wrapped in Micarta, a resin-impregnated linen or canvas laminate valued for its durability and secure grip even when wet. The handle measures 13 inches long and 1 inch thick, giving enough leverage for two-handed use on a knife that weighs 43.75oz.

Carry

The Ronin ships with a leather sheath sized for its 17 inch blade. This is a full tang fixed blade - the strength comes from the continuous steel spine running through the handle. The leather sheath protects the edge and allows for belt or baldric-style carry given the blade's length.
