SHADE Indonesia builds hand forged fixed blades under one name and one set of hands. Shany Amran Priyatna started as a collector in 2013, could not find a knife that matched the designs in his head, and began drawing his own. He launched SAP Blade Design in 2016 and rebranded to SHADE in 2018, a contraction of SHany Amran blaDe dEsign, then added Indonesia to the name to put his country on the map in the global knife community. The shop has stayed small on purpose. Every blade moves from sketch to forge to final polish under his direction, and nothing ships that he would not carry himself.
The catalog runs heavy. Choppers, kukris, parangs, spears, katanas, and short swords sit alongside daggers, karambits, tantos, and fighters, with compact EDC fixed blades and bushcraft patterns filling out the working end of the line. Recurring collections give the lineup its spine. The Silence family started as a single dagger and grew into a full progression, from a pocketable 2.0 up through trench fighters, spears, and swords that all share the same aggressive geometry, while Bandit, Kratos, Nightmare, Revenant, Valkyrie, WarWolf, and Wild Eagle each carry their own visual language.
Steel selection is narrow and deliberate. 5160 spring steel handles the choppers and long blades where flex under load matters more than edge life, and it is the only steel in the lineup that takes brut de forge, dark acid etch, and textured finishes. L6 covers impact work, batoning, and anything that gets swung hard. Sleipner goes on blades where edge retention is the priority, and K110, better known as D2, lands on the compact EDC pieces, every chemistry mapped in our knife steel guide. Handles come in Micarta for wet and rough conditions or rosewood for warmth and patina, all full tang, paired with molded Kydex or handmade leather.
