The Spartan Harsey Folder earned the 2016 BLADE Show American Made Knife of the Year—the culmination of a design lineage spanning decades. When Lone Wolf Knives shuttered and Benchmade discontinued Bill Harsey's acclaimed T-series folders, enthusiasts mourned one of the best tactical folder designs ever produced. Harsey wasn't content to let the design die. Working with Spartan Blades, he reimagined his folder as an all-titanium framelock built to the standards that made his name synonymous with tactical excellence.
The SHF represents Spartan's first folder collaboration with Harsey—the same designer behind the Yarborough Knife presented to every Special Forces Qualification Course graduate. Where the original Lone Wolf T2 used liner locks with handle scales, the SHF elevates the platform with solid 6AL-4V titanium construction throughout. Everything except the blade, barrel pivot, and stop pin is machined titanium, creating a folder that reviewers consistently compare to Chris Reeve and Hinderer production.
The 4-inch spear point blade runs CPM MagnaCut or S45VN steel with double deep cryo treatment, achieving 61-63 HRC on MagnaCut variants. Harsey's signature flat ground main bevel with tapered top edge delivers both cutting performance and tip strength. Phosphor bronze bushings provide smooth deployment that owners describe as improving with use—an action that breaks in rather than loosens up. The internal lock bar stabilizer prevents over-travel while maintaining rock-solid lockup.
Handle ergonomics showcase the distinctive "Harsey Look" that defines his tactical designs. The balance point sits at the index finger groove—the same placement Harsey engineers into his fixed blades like the Difensa—providing a lively, responsive feel during use.
