Spartan Blades Kabar
The Spartan KA-BAR is the classic USMC fighting knife rebuilt in CPM MagnaCut. When KA-BAR and Spartan Blades formed Pineland Cutlery in 2019, KA-BAR CEO John Stitt wanted a KA-BAR with more strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance than the original. Spartan took on the job and built it with CNC machining, deep cryogenic treatment, and PVD coatings.
Spartan KA-BAR Specs
The Spartan KA-BAR keeps the familiar pattern: a 7 inch clip point with the fuller, 12 inches overall at about 10.8 ounces. The blade runs 0.165 inch stock. The Kraton G handle keeps the original's profile and pairs it with a 301 stainless guard in Tungsten DLC. Pick it up and it feels like the knife that has hung on Marine belts since World War II. The original was adopted by the Marines, Army, Navy, Coast Guard, and Underwater Demolition Teams. It went on to be carried again in Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
MagnaCut vs 1095 Cro-Van
The standard KA-BAR runs 1095 Cro-Van, a tough carbon steel that rusts if you neglect it. The Spartan version swaps in MagnaCut at 61 to 63 HRC. That means far better edge retention and real stainless corrosion resistance, while keeping the toughness a fighting knife needs. Our knife steel guide breaks down that difference.
Finish and Sheath Options
Our shelf carries the black Tungsten DLC build in two sheath choices: traditional black leather for the classic look, or black Kydex for modern belt and gear mounting. Spartan also makes the knife in ZrN flat dark earth.
Spartan KA-BAR vs Original KA-BAR
