The Spartan Blades Poros is a full-size flipper designed by co-founder Curtis Iovito as a robust everyday carry folder. It is built in Taiwan through Pineland Cutlery, the Spartan and KA-BAR partnership, which puts a big Spartan Blades folder at an accessible price. In Greek myth, Poros personified resourcefulness, the god of ways and means.
The Poros carries a 3.75 inch drop point on 0.125 inch stock and runs 9 inches open and 5.25 inches closed at about 5.3 ounces. That is a true full-size folding knife, with enough blade for real work. High grind lines and a sharp, piercing tip make it a confident slicer.
The flipper fires on an IKBS ball bearing pivot for a quick, snappy opening, and a liner lock holds the blade open. The stainless hardware and liner carry a black electro-deposit powder coat to match the blade. The deep carry clip mounts tip up for right or left hand carry, so the knife rides low in either pocket.
The blade is 154CM, a proven American stainless that sharpens easily and holds a working edge, finished in black titanium nitride. Our knife steel guide covers how 154CM compares. Iovito's distinctive scalloped G-10 scales are there for grip as much as looks. Choose black, green, or a carbon fiber G-10 composite.
The Eleos is the lighter full-size option, an ambidextrous crossbar lock with a 3.56 inch 154CM blade at about 4.2 ounces. For Iovito's flipper design in US-made titanium and MagnaCut, step up to the Pandia. If you want the opposite end of the range, the Nemec is a slim 3.5 inch S35VN flipper that weighs under 3 ounces. The Poros gives you the most blade of the four.
