Spartan Blades Ronin Shinto
The Spartan Blades Ronin Shinto is a recurve combat knife designed by Curtis Iovito and Tu Lam. Lam is a retired Green Beret who served in the same Okinawa company as the Spartan Blades founders. He runs Ronin Tactics, which trains top military and law enforcement units in hand-to-hand and knife work, and he co-hosted History's Forged in Fire: Knife or Death. Shinto literally means "way of the gods," and Spartan uses the name for its idea of joining old ways with new.
Spartan Ronin Shinto Specs
The Ronin Shinto carries a 5.625 inch recurve on 3/16 inch stock with a full tang. It runs 10.5 inches overall on a 4.875 inch handle and weighs about 8.9 ounces. The recurve pulls material into the cut and puts a lot of edge in a mid-size blade, while the point stays usable for thrusting work.
MagnaCut and S45VN Blade Steel
Current Ronin Shintos run CPM MagnaCut in black or flat dark earth PVD. Our shelf also holds a black PVD build in CPM S45VN from an earlier run. Both are premium stainless steels with strong edge retention and corrosion resistance, and our knife steel guide compares the two.
Canvas Micarta Handle, Sheaths, and Trainer
The black CE canvas Micarta handle grips securely wet or dry. Builds on our shelf ship in black or coyote Kydex, or in a black MOLLE sheath for tactical gear. We also carry the Ronin Shinto trainer, with a red aluminum blade and black Delrin handle, so you can drill Lam's techniques safely.
