The Ronin Shinto is a combat/utility fixed blade designed by Curtis Iovito and Tu Lam, former Green Beret and combat knife instructor. The 5.625-inch recurve blade is ground from CPM MagnaCut at 61-63 HRC, delivering exceptional edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance. The recurve profile concentrates cutting power in the belly while maintaining tip utility for piercing tasks. SpartaCoat PVD finishes—DLC Flat Black or ZrN Flat Dark Earth—provide additional corrosion protection and eliminate glare.
Lam's extensive experience teaching hand-to-hand combat and edged weapon tactics informed the blade geometry and handle ergonomics. Full-tang construction meets black CE Canvas Micarta handles, providing secure grip in wet or dry conditions. At 10.5 inches overall and 0.558 pounds, the Ronin Shinto balances aggressive cutting capability with manageable carry weight.
Available with lined nylon MOLLE sheaths in black, coyote tan, or MultiCam, or Kydex sheaths with belt loops in black or coyote tan. Made in the USA.
"Shinto" translates to "the way of connecting old with new"—a Japanese philosophy of honoring tradition while embracing innovation. "Ronin" refers to masterless samurai who followed their own path. Together, the name reflects a blade that merges classical combat knife principles with modern materials and tactical requirements.
