Based on the proven VG-10 stainless steel, SPY27 increases the amounts of carbon, molybdenum, and vanadium, and adds niobium and nitrogen. Crucible Industries’ advanced particle metallurgy process ensures an even distribution of these alloys throughout the steel, resulting in a highly uniform microstructure that enhances edge holding, toughness, and corrosion resistance. To mark this knife as part of Spyderco’s elite SPY27 family, the handle features peel-ply-textured G-10 scales in a distinctive cobalt-blue color.
