The late William F. Moran Jr., better known as Bill Moran, was a legend in the knifemaking community. The founder of the American Bladesmith Society (ABS), he was also instrumental in the rediscovery of hand-forged Damascus steel. In 1995, Spyderco was honored to collaborate with him on our first fixed-blade knife, an expression of his Featherlight pattern. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of this model and what would have been Bills 100th birthday, we are proud to introduce a stunning Sprint Run version of the Moran Upswept. Its full-flat-ground blade is crafted from Damasteels Dense Twist DS93X Martensitic Damascus Patterned Steel. This remarkable material consists of two different hardenable knife steels expertly forged to offer superior strength, outstanding edge retention, excellent corrosion resistance, and a breathtaking Damascus pattern. The blade is paired with a fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle injection molded in a distinctive gray color and inlaid with black Kraton® rubber panels to ensure a secure, non-slip grip. As an extra touch of class, this limited-edition knife comes complete with a beautifully crafted genuine leather sheath. A fitting tribute to a true cutlery icon, this incredible knife is sure to be a coveted collectors item.
