Trevor Burger is a second-generation knifemaker from South Africa who has built a reputation for producing some of the smoothest front flippers in the custom knife world. Growing up on the family farmstead in Munster, along the coastal belt of KwaZulu Natal, Trevor spent his teenage years learning the craft in his father Fred's workshop, making knives for friends and local hunters.
After high school, Trevor trained as a toolmaker—a background that shows in every knife he builds. That precision mindset led him to incorporate CNC machining into his process, resulting in the tight tolerances and flawless fit and finish his knives are known for. He builds all components in-house, including his own caged bearings, and every blade is hand ground.
Trevor's designs lean toward clean, minimalist EDC folders that prioritize function without sacrificing aesthetics. His front flipper models like the EXK, LEXK, and Urban have earned a devoted following for their crisp, direct action—just a touch of pressure on the flipper tab and the blade snaps into position. For those who prefer a traditional flipper, the Atlas, Sierra, and Dakar deliver the same refined action and build quality.
His knives typically feature steels like Bohler M390 and Elmax paired with titanium frame lock construction and hardened steel lock bar inserts. Handle options range from clean titanium slabs to FatCarbon inlays and micarta. Trevor is also one of the few custom makers who regularly builds left-handed knives—something southpaw collectors appreciate.
Each TBC knife ships with a zippered storage pouch and a hand-signed certificate of authenticity.
