Warlander Knives represents the knife-making evolution of Amy Valerious, who transitioned from custom leather sheath work to full knife production after handling thousands of blades over the years. Starting in 2019 with an apprenticeship at Fiddleback Forge, Warlander produces handmade fixed blades including skinners, Nessmuks, and spearpoint designs. Each knife is shaped, heat treated, ground, and sharpened in-house using primarily 1084, A2, and AEB-L steels, with occasional runs in specialty alloys. Handle materials range from natural woods and micarta to bone and stag, with each piece developing its own patina through use. The sheaths are crafted from Hermann Oak and Wickett & Craig leather, continuing the brand's roots in custom leatherwork.
What distinguishes Warlander from production knives is the complete control over every aspect of manufacturing. All processes from forging through final sharpening happen in their Made in USA shop, with materials sourced from American suppliers whenever possible. The fixed blade designs focus on functional patterns for outdoor and hunting use, with proper heat treatment and edge geometry for their intended tasks. Each knife ships with a handmade leather sheath that's wet-molded to the specific blade. DLT Trading stocks Warlander's available inventory, offering collectors access to genuinely handmade American fixed blades backed by the maker's warranty against defects in normal use.
