The White River Small Game is a bird and trout knife built for maneuverability, and like the best of the breed it doubles as an outstanding everyday carry. Designed by Owen Baker Jr. and made in the USA by White River Knife & Tool in Fremont, Michigan, it makes easy work of dressing small game, birds, and trout, and some hunters reach for it on larger game too.
The Small Game runs a 2.62 inch blade on .130 inch stock, 7.25 inches overall at just 2.75 ounces. The short, agile blade gets into tight spots around joints and cavities that longer knives fight, and every edge is precision ground, cryogenically tempered, and leather honed so it arrives extremely sharp. Its compact size also makes it an easy, dependable fixed blade to carry just about anywhere.
A recessed finger choil and ergonomic Micarta handle keep the knife locked in your grip no matter how wet or bloody the job gets. We carry it in Black Burlap, Natural Burlap, and Black and OD Linen Micarta, covered in our guide to knife handle materials.
The Small Game comes in CPM MagnaCut at 63 to 64 Rc or CPM S35VN at 59 to 60 Rc. MagnaCut adds edge retention and corrosion resistance for long days cleaning fish and birds, while S35VN is a proven, easy-maintaining choice. Our comparison of every major knife steel covers both.
It ships with a multi-position Kydex sheath, and a separate Small Game leather sheath is available. Like every White River, it is guaranteed for life with free sharpening. For a thinner bird and trout blade, see the Shoal, compare the larger Hunter, or browse our hunting knives.
