The 7Forge Jackal 2.0 is one of our DLT Trading exclusives, a compact EDC fixed blade made in Iowa that you will only find here. It pairs a 3 inch AEB-L clip point with a 4 inch handle at just over 3 ounces, small enough to forget at the hip and stout enough for real work in the field, on the hunt, or around camp.
The original Jackal was a 6.5 inch knife with a 2.75 inch 80CrV2 blade. For the 2.0, 7Forge stretched it to 7 inches overall with a 3 inch blade and a full four-finger 4 inch handle, switched to stainless steel, and trimmed the stock to .117 inch, so the bigger knife actually weighs less at 3.03 ounces. The clip point gives a fine, low tip for opening packages, trimming cord, and detail cuts, while a sharpening choil lets you take the edge all the way to the heel. 7Forge calls it their popular Jackal model, and it holds its own against any fixed blade knife in this size. If you want a trailing point with more belly, the MagnaCut Hawkeye EDC runs a quarter inch longer.
AEB-L started life as a razor blade steel, and its fine grain lets it take a very keen edge that comes back quickly on a stone. It is tough for its hardness and stainless, which suits a knife that sees sweat, food, and weather every day. See how it compares in our guide to every major knife steel. Every Jackal 2.0 gets its own handle build, from Kali and blue burlap micarta, bone, blue, and maroon linen micarta, and burgundy canvas micarta to desert ironwood, dark curly mango, spalted maple, stacked leather, and black Richlite, set off with colored liners and brass, red, or mosaic pins. Our handle materials guide explains how each one grips and ages.
