The Benchmade 533 Mini Bugout is the scaled-down version of the full-sized 535 Bugout, built around the same design priorities—low weight, functional blade geometry, and the AXIS lock—in a more compact package. At 1.5 ounces where carry compliance and minimal pocket presence matter more than blade length.
Steel options vary by model. Standard 533 variants run CPM-S30V, a solid all-around stainless with good edge retention and corrosion resistance. Premium configurations use upgraded steels depending on the specific release. The drop-point blade profile handles everyday cutting tasks—opening packages, breaking down cardboard, slicing cordage—without the fragility of thinner tip geometries.
The AXIS lock operates ambidextrously and allows one-handed opening and closing. It's a proven mechanism across Benchmade's lineup, using a spring-loaded bar that engages the blade tang for lockup. Handle scales ship in Grivory on standard models, with carbon fiber and other materials available on select versions. Colorways range from the signature orange to black and limited-run options.
