MagnaCut Fixed Blade with Micarta Handles

The Cloudland is the third model in Big Idea Design's USA fixed blade lineup, drawing inspiration from bird and trout knife patterns but adapted for everyday carry. It features a full four-finger handle paired with a medium-length blade, bridging the gap between the brand's other models and offering a distinct carry and use case. Named after Cloudland Canyon, it was designed in house with ABS Journeyman Smith Mak Kelsay.

Blade

The 2.7" drop point blade is made from MagnaCut steel with a stonewash finish. MagnaCut is a modern powder metallurgy steel that balances high edge retention with strong corrosion resistance and toughness, making it a favorite for knives that see regular use in wet or humid conditions. The stonewash finish hides small scratches and adds a textured, low-glare look.

Handle

The handle is Micarta, a composite made from linen or canvas layers set in resin. It offers a secure, grippy feel that only improves with wear, and it resists moisture better than untreated natural materials. At 4.05" long and just 2.37oz overall, the Cloudland fills the hand fully while remaining light enough for all-day carry.

Carry

The Cloudland ships with a Kydex sheath, offering a rigid, low-profile carry option with a positive retention click. Its slim dimensions and light weight make it easy to carry on a belt or tucked into a pocket as a nimble, full-sized-feeling EDC fixed blade.
