The Buck 110 Folding Hunter and 112 Ranger are the lockbacks that defined the category. Introduced in 1964, the 110 established the template for the modern folding knife—a 3.75" clip point blade, Crelicam ebony handles with brass bolsters, and a back lock that became an industry standard. The 112 Ranger followed as the compact variant, trimming the blade to 3" while keeping identical construction. Both remain in continuous production in the USA, running Buck's BOS heat-treated 420HC at 58-60 HRC in standard trim, each shipping with a genuine leather belt sheath and backed by the Forever Warranty.
The new-for-2026 Slim Heritage Elite is the flagship of the family—CPM MagnaCut and genuine ebony with brass or nickel silver bolsters in a frame a quarter inch thinner than the original, carried on a deep-carry pocket clip instead of a sheath. The Slim Elite brings MagnaCut to a modern handle, the Slim Pro pairs S30V with canvas micarta, the Slim Pro TRX runs S30V over linerless G10 with a Cerakote deep-carry clip and Torx construction, and the Slim Select drops carry weight under 3 oz with 420HC and glass-reinforced nylon.
The Hunter Sport and Ranger Sport hang S35VN and S30V clip points on anodized aluminum frames with canvas micarta inlays, dual thumb studs, and deep-carry clips. The featherweight 110 LT and 112 LT mold the pattern in lightweight nylon, finger groove versions of both classics improve grip for field dressing, and push-button versions of the 110 and 112 add one-hand, rapid deployment. Legacy Collection releases rotate annually with premium materials, produced only during the year they're issued.
Both patterns accept the same replacement leather and nylon sheaths, and their flat brass bolsters make them the most popular canvases for engraving in the Buck Knives lineup. Six decades after introduction, the 110 and 112 remain Buck's best-selling folders.
