Hammer Down Forge builds this paring knife for kitchen work that demands precision and control. Sized for detail tasks like peeling, trimming, and small produce prep, it's a compact companion for cooks who appreciate a hand-forged tool over a mass-produced one.
Blade
The 3.75" blade is forged from MagnaCut steel with a two tone finish and a 3.5" cutting edge at 0.10" thick. MagnaCut is a modern stainless steel developed specifically for knife use, offering excellent edge retention, strong corrosion resistance, and enough toughness to handle repeated kitchen use without chipping. It holds a fine edge well, which matters for the controlled, close-up cuts a paring knife is meant for.
Handle
The handle is black Richlite with a turquoise spacer. Richlite is a dense, resin-infused paper composite originally developed for countertops - it's stable, water-resistant, and holds up well to kitchen moisture and repeated washing. The turquoise spacer adds a visual accent between the handle and bolster. At 2.89oz, the knife is light and nimble in hand.
Carry
As a fixed blade kitchen knife, there is no lock mechanism to speak of. It is intended for use and storage in a knife block or drawer rather than belt or pocket carry.
Made in the USA.
