Hammer Down Forge builds this paring knife for cooks who want a small, precise blade for detail work in the kitchen - peeling, trimming, and close-up cuts that a chef's knife can't handle cleanly.
Blade
The 3.75" blade is made from MagnaCut steel with a two-tone finish and measures 0.10" thick. MagnaCut is a modern powder metallurgy steel designed specifically for edge retention and corrosion resistance while remaining tough enough to avoid chipping on a thin edge like this one. It's become a favorite among custom makers for kitchen cutlery because it sharpens easily and holds that edge through repeated use.
Handle
The handle is built from red Richlite with a Bloody Basin spacer. Richlite is a paper-composite material made from resin-infused layers, giving it the look of fine hardwood with better moisture resistance and stability in a kitchen environment. At just under 3oz total weight, the knife stays light and nimble in hand.
Carry
This is a fixed blade with no lock mechanism - the handle and blade form one solid piece for reliable control during detail cutting. As a kitchen knife, it's intended for block or drawer storage rather than sheath carry.
Made in the USA.
