Hinderer collaborations bring Rick Hinderer's designs to factory production with partners like Kershaw and Zero Tolerance, putting his ergonomics, lockbar stabilizer, and signature shapes into knives at very different price points. They are a smart way into the Hinderer look before stepping up to a shop built model from our Rick Hinderer knives.
The Kershaw Decimus 1559 takes its look from Rick's Hinderer Maximus dagger, with a symmetrical handle where a spine protrusion mirrors the flipper to form a small crossguard. It runs a 3.25 inch BlackWash 8Cr13MoV bayonet blade with a single sharpened edge, SpeedSafe assisted opening, a stonewashed steel frame lock with textured overlays, and a Hinderer style filler tab.
The Kershaw Cryo 1555TI is an affordable way to carry a Hinderer design: a 2.75 inch drop point with flipper and thumb studs, SpeedSafe assist, a gray steel frame lock, and a Hinderer lockbar stabilizer, at about 4.1 ounces. The Kershaw Cinder 1025 shrinks things to a 1.4 inch keychain knife with a built in bottle opener and a handle shaped for a full three finger grip. More from Kershaw lives on our Kershaw knives page.
For a collaboration closer to Rick's own build, the Zero Tolerance 0562CF pairs a 3.5 inch CPM 20CV slicer with a carbon fiber front scale over a titanium frame lock, opening on ZT's KVT ball bearing system. Zero Tolerance has a long Hinderer history, including the ZT 0392 based on the Hinderer Eklipse, and more lives with our Zero Tolerance knives.
Collaborations are built in partner factories, while Hinderer's own knives are machined, finished, and assembled in Shreve, Ohio with features like the Tri-Way pivot and swappable hardware. Our comparison of every major knife steel shows how 8Cr13MoV and 20CV differ in edge life.
