KNAFS Lander 2
The KNAFS Lander 2 took everything the original Lander proved and scaled it up. KNAFS founder Ben Petersen kept the open-source, tinker-first DNA of the first knife, then stretched the blade to 3.25 inches of CPM S35VN, traded the liner lock for the crossbar-style Clutch Lock, and put the whole package on ceramic caged bearings. The result is a 2.9 ounce everyday carry folder that flips like a knife twice its price and rebuilds like a project car.
Lander 2 Clutch Lock
The Clutch Lock is Kizer's take on the crossbar lock, built for KNAFS on adjustable omega springs. Pull the bar back and the blade drops shut; tension is tunable, lockup is fully ambidextrous, and your fingers never cross the edge on the close. Paired with dual thumb studs and a bearing pivot, the action lands squarely in fidget territory while still locking up hard for real work, and a steel sub-frame under the scales keeps the frame rigid without pushing the weight past three ounces.
Fast Swap Lander 2 Scales
Fast Swap is the Lander 2's signature trick. The scales come off and go back on without retuning the pivot or realigning the lock, and KNAFS publishes the CAD files free under a Creative Commons license, so you can 3D print your own designs at home. The grid above runs from flat G-10 in black and natural to printed patterns like Brook Trout, Mexican Blanket, and Kitty Cosmic Crew, plus canvas micarta and anodized aluminum builds, with replacement scales stocked alongside the knives so one Lander 2 can wear a different personality every week.
S35VN and Elmax Blade Steel
