Leatherman FREE Series

The Leatherman FREE Series is the brand's magnetic architecture platform and a full departure from the traditional Leatherman tool mechanism. Instead of spring tension and fingernail nicks, FREE tools use embedded magnets to hold implements closed and guide them smoothly to the open position. Every tool opens and locks with one hand. DLT carries the FREE Series across four current models: the K2, K2X, and K4X folding knives plus the compact T2 pocket multi-tool.

FREE Magnetic Architecture and One-Hand Access

The FREE system uses rare-earth magnets inside the handle to eliminate the spring tension that made older Leatherman tools hard to open. Pull against the magnet, and the tool fans smoothly outward. Push it back, and the magnet snaps it home. Each implement has a cam-based lock that clicks into place when fully deployed and releases with a thumb pull on the lever. Leatherman built the FREE platform for users who wanted the brand's reliability without the operational friction of older designs.

FREE K Series K2, K2X, and K4X Folding Knives

The K Series is the knife-forward side of the FREE family, built around a 3.3-inch 420HC blade with aluminum handle scales and a deep-carry pocket clip. The K2 runs a plain-edge blade with eight tools total: knife, pry tool, package opener, awl, bottle opener, Phillips screwdriver, and medium and extra-small flathead screwdrivers. The K2X carries the same tool set with a partially serrated combo blade for rope and fibrous materials. The K4X adds spring-action scissors for a nine-tool count with the same combo blade. Weight runs 4.9 ounces on the K2 and K2X, 5.5 ounces on the K4X. DLT stocks the K2 in Slate Gray, the K2X in Silver, and the K4X in Silver.

FREE T2 Pocket Multi-Tool

The T2 is the most compact tool in the FREE family at 3.6 inches closed and 3.3 ounces. It carries eight tools: a 2.2-inch 420HC knife, pry tool, package opener, awl, bottle opener, Phillips screwdriver, medium screwdriver, and extra-small screwdriver. No pliers, no scissors.
