MachineWise is a five-person operation out of Phoenix, Arizona, and the Mojave is their framelock folder — their answer to one of the most competitive formats in the custom and production knife space. It's not a mass-market product. Every Mojave ships with a serial number, a QC card documenting the blade's tested Rockwell hardness, and a COA confirming the steel composition. That level of documentation is standard practice at MachineWise, not a marketing add-on.
The Mojave runs a 3.45" Wharncliffe-profile blade in S90V, a high-vanadium powdered metallurgy steel built primarily for edge retention. S90V sits above 20CV in wear resistance, which means longer intervals between sharpening in sustained cutting use. Every blade is Rockwell-tested post heat treat before it goes into assembly — the measured value is recorded on the included QC card, not estimated from a spec sheet. Blade thickness comes in at 0.125" with a thinly ground edge (0.011–0.015" behind the belly), which keeps slicing performance sharp across a wide variety of tasks. Stonewash and lightwash finishes vary by variant.
The Mojave uses a two-slab Grade 5 titanium sandwich construction with a separate backspacer — a deliberate choice that gives MachineWise flexibility to express their machining work across both handle scales independently. Texture patterns including Stars, Fine Step, Smooth, Mosaic, and Epicenter are milled directly into the titanium. Handle thickness sits at 0.40" at the body, 0.52" at the clip, keeping the overall package compact and flat for a knife that opens to 8.40". At 3.6 oz it carries lightly for full Grade 5 titanium construction.
The Mojave deploys on ceramic ball bearings — a first for MachineWise when the model launched, chosen specifically for compatibility with the framelock mechanism. The bearing pivot delivers a smooth, consistent flip and supports reliable lockup. Lock face geometry was refined through multiple prototype iterations and validated against spine whack testing before production.
The variants in this collection represent the breadth of MachineWise's finishing capability: anodized solids, multi-step fades (Mosaic Sunset, Green Blue, LV Fade), distressed effects, and pattern-specific colorways across Blues, Navy, Plum, and Blurple. Each knife ships numbered in a display case with a T15 bit and driver, a sample of Carbon Honey Thin lubricant in Orange Creamsicle scent, and the QC card/COA. MachineWise backs the Mojave with an unconditional lifetime warranty. All design, machining, and assembly happen in-house in Phoenix.
These are individually numbered knives from a small maker with a tight production cadence. Availability on specific variants is limited and does not restock predictably.
