MachineWise Sonora
The MachineWise Sonora is an integral titanium button lock flipper built by a five-person team in Phoenix, Arizona. It was MachineWise's first folding knife, designed to carry the precision of their balisong work into an everyday carry format. Every Sonora is CNC machined, serialized, and Rockwell tested, and ships with a QC card recording the blade's measured hardness and a COA confirming the steel. It is a small-batch American-made folding knife from the full MachineWise lineup, not a production-line folder.
S90V Drop Point Blade
The Sonora runs a 3.35" drop point blade in S90V, a high-vanadium powder steel valued for exceptional edge retention. The edge arc measures 3.5", ground to 0.011 to 0.015" behind the belly for a thin, capable cutting edge on 0.125" stock. Every blade is Rockwell tested after heat treat, and that measured number goes on the QC card, not a spec sheet estimate. Special runs like the DLC Sonora with carbon inlay add a coated blade. Integral Grade 5 Titanium Handle
The entire frame is machined from a single piece of Grade 5 titanium, needing only two screws plus the pivot assembly. Fewer assembly points means fewer things to loosen, and the handle geometry shows off what the shop can do. It runs 0.50" at the bolster, 0.40" at the body, and 0.56" at the clip, and weighs 3.5 oz. Brass bolster versions like the Ripples Sonora and Sunray Sunset Fade Sonora add warmth up front. The deep carry clip is reversible for left or right hand carry.
Bushing Pivot Button Lock Flipper
A bushing pivot with hardened stainless steel washers pairs with the button lock for secure, repeatable lockup and quick one-handed deployment off the flipper tab. It closes to 4.4" and opens to 7.95", one of the most compact packages in the MachineWise lineup while still running a full 3.35" blade.
Made in Phoenix with a Lifetime Warranty
Each Sonora ships in a signature biscuit tin with a T15 driver, Carbon Honey Thin lubricant, a QC card and COA, and a maintenance card, backed by an unconditional lifetime warranty.
