MachineWise Opus V2
The MachineWise Opus V2 is designer Deylan's personal rework of the original Opus, not an update but a full rebuild. He pulled from across the MachineWise lineup, kept what worked, cut what didn't, and rebuilt the balisong from the ground up for flippers who want more than smooth action and good looks. Like everything out of Phoenix, it is numbered, documented, and hand finished in-house.
Titanium Chanwich Balisong Handles
The Opus V2 uses chanwich construction, a channel and sandwich hybrid that pairs a rigid frame with the design freedom of a sandwich build. The Grade 5 titanium handles run 5.6" long and taper toward the pivot in both width and thickness from 0.5". Each handle weighs 1.2 oz without inserts, and hidden zen pins keep hardware off the outside. It opens to 10.4" from a 5.8" closed length, a full-size flipper with proportions dialed for performance.
Adjustable Brass Weight System
Hidden interchangeable brass inserts let you run medium (0.08 oz) or heavy (0.13 oz) weights. With mediums installed, the knife weighs 3.96 oz with a light handle bias that favors control without killing momentum. Swapping weights changes balance and feel without any visible hardware, so the outside stays clean whatever your setup.
S35VN Blade and Bushing Pivot
The 5.3" blade carries 4.5" of sharpened edge and weighs 1.2 oz, matched closely to each handle for a balanced flip. Every blade is Rockwell tested, with the result on the QC card and COA in the box, and our knife steel guide covers how the S35VN performs. The bushing pivot with hardened stainless washers favors tuned, consistent action over raw speed, the kind that holds up through long sessions without constant adjustment.
Maryn Platform Blade Swaps
The Opus V2 is built on the Maryn platform, so handles and blades cross over with Opus, SlifT, Prysma, and Maryn. It shares that platform with the MachineWise Serif, which is why Serif blades show up on Opus handles like the Raw Titanium Opus V2 and Zirblast Opus V2. Finish runs and anodized colorways are limited and do not restock on a schedule.
