MD Edgeworks is the work of Texas bladesmith Micah Dunn, who came to knifemaking through fourteen years of professional welding and fabrication before lighting his first forge in May of 2020. That metalworking foundation shows in everything he builds: clean grinds, tight fit-ups, and a working understanding of how steel behaves under heat that most makers spend decades acquiring. A Galveston-born husband and father of three, Dunn builds in small runs that move fast.
The lineup spans field and kitchen instincts. The Bison is the robust outdoor fixed blade, running 52100 carbon steel under desert ironwood, with the Roughneck taking the same approach in curly maple over a stonewashed blade. The Avian covers compact carry in Nitro-V with micarta, G-10, and Grip X handle options, while the Scalpel delivers a slim precision fixed blade in Nitro-V or MagnaCut depending on the variant. The Bird and Trout rounds out the hunting side in stonewashed 52100, a pattern whose handle ergonomics have earned unprompted praise from collectors who own several of his blades.
The Mini Scalpel is where Dunn's forge work shows off: hand-forged damascus billets of 1084 and 15N20, plus MokuMai builds wrapping an Apex Ultra core in layered contrast cladding, dressed in mammoth ivory and green or red mammoth molar.
