The Medford Bonfire is the big chopper in the Medford Knife & Tool lineup, a full tang CPM 3V fixed blade made in Phoenix, Arizona for hard work in the field. Its blade stock is 0.30 inch thick, over a quarter inch, so it shrugs off the kind of abuse that bends thinner knives.
The 7.5 inch blade is hollow ground, which keeps the edge keen and leaves years of material for resharpening. The G-10 handle has a deep choil and an integral hilt for safety and control during heavy use, and the pommel takes a lanyard, which Medford recommends for an extra layer of safety when chopping. It rides in a Kydex sheath and suits survival and bushcraft work where one knife has to clear brush and process wood.
The Bonfire measures 13 inches overall and weighs 20 ounces. CPM 3V is a tool steel built for toughness, the right call for a blade that chops, and you can see how it compares in our knife steel guide. Choose the tumbled 3V with black G-10 and PVD hardware or the black PVD 3V with coyote G-10. For a smaller 3V survival knife, look at the Medford AIO-2 or Jungle Fighter.
