The Medford Romulus is a double edged dagger from Medford Knife & Tool, made in Phoenix, Arizona and named for the legendary first king of Rome. It is Greg Medford's modern take on the gladius carried by Roman soldiers, built as a large, hard hitting fixed blade with a symmetrical profile.
Roman warfare changed constantly, but the foot soldier's personal blade barely did. Medford built the Romulus around that same brief: a dagger with dual edges, an ambidextrous grip, and enough length and weight to work in close quarters. The flat ground, double edged blade and symmetrical G-10 handle work equally well in either hand, which suits a tactical carrier or a collector of modern fighting knives.
The Pro Series Romulus runs a 9.5 inch tumbled CPM 3V blade on 0.190 inch stock, 14.8 inches overall, with OD green G-10 scales and a Kydex sheath. CPM 3V gives a blade this long the toughness to take impact without chipping, and our knife steel guide shows how it compares.
