The Medford San is a purpose built bushcraft knife from Medford Knife & Tool, made in Phoenix, Arizona from CPM 3V. Its name honors the San, the hunter gatherer peoples of southern Africa, and the design follows that spirit: a simple, full tang fixed blade built for strength, balance, and field craft improvisation.
The contoured G-10 handle is shaped for comfort in long use and carries a bow drill divot on the reverse side for friction fire starting. The exposed pommel doubles as a hammer for jobs like driving tent stakes, and PVD hardware holds the scales. Each San ships in an ambidextrous leather sheath with an integrated belt loop, so it carries the same for left and right handed users.
The Pro Series San runs a 4.25 inch tumbled CPM 3V blade on 0.150 inch stock, 8.625 inches overall, and weighs 7.76 ounces, in black or coyote G-10. CPM 3V brings the toughness bushcraft demands, and our knife steel guide shows how it compares. The same pattern in 1095 carbon steel is the 1881 Knifeworks San. For a bigger Medford woods knife, step up to the AIO-2 or the Bonfire chopper.
