Pro-Tech Godfather
The Pro-Tech Godfather has been the flagship of the Pro-Tech lineup since 2001, and our Pro-Tech brand history covers how it shaped the company. It takes the long, narrow lines of the Italian folding stiletto and builds them into a modern American side opening automatic with a machined aluminum frame and Pro-Tech's coil spring action. The platform has collector credentials too. The Warenski Ultimate Godfather was named Investor/Collector Knife of the Year at Blade Show 2015.
Pro-Tech Godfather Specs
The blade is a 4 inch 154CM spear point on roughly 0.125 inch stock, hardened to around 59 HRC. It is 9.25 inches open with a 5.25 inch aluminum handle, and the knife weighs about 4 ounces depending on the build. 154CM is an American stainless that sharpens easily and holds a working edge, and our knife steel guide puts it in context. The clip is set for right hand tip up carry.
Godfather Automatic Action
Press the button and the coil spring swings the blade out the side and locks it open. To close, press the same button, which releases the lock, then fold the blade home. One control handles both jobs. The frame is only about half an inch thick, so a knife with a 4 inch blade rides more like a gent's folder than a duty knife.
Godfather Handles, Blades, and Inlays
Handles on our shelf run black, silver, grey, blue, red, and green anodized aluminum, plus battleworn grey and crimson tiger camo. Blades come in satin, black, bead blast, rose gold, sapphire blue, smoky grey, and tan PVD. The dressier builds add TechnoCarbo carbon fiber, ivory or white Micarta, or maple burl inlays, with mother of pearl, white pearl, or black lip pearl buttons. Lefties get the Godfather Leftie in battleworn black jigged aluminum.
Godfather vs Godson
The Godson is the Godfather scaled down to a 3.15 inch 154CM blade, with the same stiletto profile and push button action. Pick the Godfather if you want the classic full-length stiletto look and reach. Pick the Godson if the knife has to disappear in a dress pocket every day.
