Pro-Tech Godson
The Pro-Tech Godson is the Godfather cut down to everyday size: the same Italian stiletto lines and coil spring action on a 3.15 inch blade. It is a core Pro-Tech model with a collector pedigree, since the Pro-Tech Ultimate Godson was named Investor/Collector Knife of the Year at Blade Show 2014, a chapter covered in our Pro-Tech brand history.
Pro-Tech Godson Specs
The Godson runs a 3.15 inch spear point, 7.56 inches open and about 4.4 inches closed, at roughly 3.2 ounces. Most builds use 154CM, and a few step up to CPM 20CV, a high vanadium stainless that holds an edge noticeably longer. Our knife steel guide lays out the tradeoff between the two. Handles are machined aluminum with a tip up pocket clip.
Automatic Action and Left-Hand Builds
Like every side opening automatic Pro-Tech makes, the Godson fires off a single button that also serves as the lock release for closing. Pro-Tech also builds dedicated left-handed Godsons with a left side clip, something few auto makers bother with. We stock lefties in black, blue, and woodland camo.
Godson Inlays, Colors, and Finishes
The Godson frame takes inlays, and Pro-Tech uses them freely. Our shelf includes cocobolo, bocote, and maple burl wood, ivory Micarta, black and purple G-10, and crosscut, marble, and violet carbon fiber. Handles run black, silver, blue, bronze, green, purple, and red. Blades come in satin, bead blast, black, DLC washed, rose gold, tan PVD, and two-tone. At the top end is a custom with bronze anodized bolsters over blue jigged titanium.
Godson vs Godfather vs Runt 5
The Godfather gives you the full 4 inch stiletto and 9.25 inches of presence. The Godson keeps the look at a size that clips to a dress pocket and stays there. If you need to go smaller still, the Runt 5 drops under two inches of blade in MagnaCut, with a squared modern frame instead of stiletto lines.
